MC 900ft Jesus is Mark Griffith, a versatile musician who made a name for himself in the club/alternative/indie scene in the late 80's through mid 90's. His music style ranged from electronic house to jazz to spoken word. He was beck before Beck, orbital before Orbital, portishead before Portishead.
This web site was created because my roommate at the time and I felt that a song of his, "Born With Monkey Asses" was so ****ed up that it deserved a web site of its own.
The moniker comes from a vision the evangelist Oral Roberts claims to have seen. A giant 900 foot jesus spoke to him and told him not to worry about being broke. (If only we all were so lucky to have a 900 foot personal accountant who moonlights as the Son of God). More details here.
Not much is known about Griffith as he never attained superstardom. He is a classically trained musician from Dallas who at one point attended the University of North Texas graduate music school. I think most of what we know of him comes from the music. Check out the discography for some samples into the weirdness that is MC 900ft Jesus.

Nothing to report, except to say that MC 900's songs
hold up pretty darn well to the test of time. I love
putting them on the iPod in shuffle mode. Speaking
of ipods, while we're waiting for any news from
Mark check out my new astronomy podcast: Slacker Astronomy.

Sorry but the rumours seems to be untrue. We may have a
real message from the man himself.. you can see the entire thread here.
Here is the msg itself:
Glad someone remembers me. Still living in Dallas. Not doing any music at the moment. Actually I've been working on getting my flight instructor certificate. Aviation is a very cool antidote to the frustrations of the music biz. I guess one of these days I'll get some more music together, just can't say when yet. Take care, -Mark G. a/k/a mc 900 ft jesus
